Almost there!

Pre-Algebra is almost over! All that is left is a take-home quiz, a scavenger hunt, and a final exam! Answer the following questions:

1) Have you already started studying for the final exam? If so, what have you done? If not, what do you plan on doing to prepare yourself?

2) Has this year been challenging for you? Do you think you performed the best you could have? What could you have done differently?

3) The Algebra I course at KIS is challenging. Do you think you need to hone up on any skills over the summer, or do you feel confident about your mathematics ability? If so, what skills?

4) Did you like Pre-Algebra class this year? Why or why not? (Be honest, but be respectful.)

  1. 1. I have been studying. I have been reviewing the the equations for finding the Surface area and the volume of shapes.
    2. This year have been challenging but also exciting. I have learned math concepts which I have not learned before and I greatly enjoyed the materials I learned new in the pre-algebra class.
    3. I think I should review some of the Korean middle school math in order for me to follow the materials in Algebra I class.
    4. I enjoyed so much with the classmate and also Mr. Jobe's humorous jokes. I think learning in this class was exciting and enjoyable and I hope I could do well in Algebra I class.

  2. 1.I have started it and I didn't get the squares and triangles like those so I am getting formula from internet and I am getting notes from it.

    2)
Kind of because it was different from what I was learning.I think I showed 70 percent best and I think I should have done the dictionary project better.

    3)
I think i should go over pre algebra in the summer.

    4)
Yup because Mr.Jobe was funny and the classmates were also funny so it was injoyable.

  3. 1) Have you already started studying for the final exam? If so, what have you done? If not, what do you plan on doing to prepare yourself?

I have started studying for the final exam. I have currently studied on the parts where I had a difficulty, such as finding the area or the surface area of a cone or a cylinder.

    2) Has this year been challenging for you? Do you think you performed the best you could have? What could you have done differently?

This year wasn't that challenging for me. I think I could've performed the best I could have, by studying more math and getting good grades for tests or quizzes.

    3) The Algebra I course at KIS is challenging. Do you think you need to hone up on any skills over the summer, or do you feel confident about your mathematics ability? If so, what skills?

I would have to hone up on any skills over the summer, and study harder for Algebra I course.

    4) Did you like Pre-Algebra class this year? Why or why not? (Be honest, but be respectful.)

I like Pre-Algebra class this year, and I am being honest. It was truly a great memory that I will keep for Mr. Jobe acting funny, which I think that is a great method to teach students, so we can remember directly what we learned, because of the fun class we had with Mr. Jobe. ^__^
    I loved Pre-Algebra class!! >__< teeeheee

  4. 1) Have you already started studying for the final exam? If so, what have you done? If not, what do you plan on doing to prepare yourself?
    - No, I haven't started on my final exam, I'll be studying all the chapters of Pre Algebra, and work more on the parts I'm not sure of.
    2) Has this year been challenging for you? Do you think you performed the best you could have? What could you have done differently?
    - It hasn't been that challenging, but it was very annoying when I got questions wrong that I could have gotten right.
    3) The Algebra I course at KIS is challenging. Do you think you need to hone up on any skills over the summer, or do you feel confident about your mathematics ability? If so, what skills?
    - Yes, I think I should study Algebra over the holidays, and get help from a friend who took Algebra this year (:
    4) Did you like Pre-Algebra class this year? Why or why not? (Be honest, but be respectful.)
    - Yes, I enjoyed Pre-Algebra this year because I learned how fun & easy math was.

  5. 1.No and what im planning to do is to review the textbook and try to solve some of the hard problems that I couldn't or I had trouble on. Another way I would try is to look at my tests that I took in Pre-Algebra and try to fix the mistakes that I have made
    2. This year for me was amazing and also challenging. I don't think I tried my best and what I could have tried differently is that I should try to focus on too listen to what the teacher is saying and too try to follow along.
    3. I think I need to try better on my math and I should try to do some on my break or the summer. I do not feel confident of my math skills and I think that I should try better into trying my best and to do my best effort.
    4. I liked and enjoyed this class a lot because we as a class did a lot of fun activities and I had a lot of friends and Mr.Jobes awesomeness. I will miss this class and I will try to do my best next year.

  6. 1) Have you already started studying for the final exam? If so, what have you done? If not, what do you plan on doing to prepare yourself?
I am already studying for my final exam. I have finished with the ratio and the probability because I think that is the most hardest subject in the textbook. I need to prepare for inequalities because I have a huge problem with that.

    2) Has this year been challenging for you? Do you think you performed the best you could have? What could you have done differently?
I think this year was not challenging as when I was in 6th Grade. I think I did not do my best because sometimes I felt lazy and didn't feel like to listen. I could paid more attention to your speech and take more notes.

    3) The Algebra I course at KIS is challenging. Do you think you need to hone up on any skills over the summer, or do you feel confident about your mathematics ability? If so, what skills?
I am not confident but I have my Algebra 1 textbook in my home that I brought from America. I could study that while traveling.

    4) Did you like Pre-Algebra class this year? Why or why not? (Be honest, but be respectful.)
I really liked Pre-Algebra class because it seemed more easier than the 6th grade math and I think this was my best math class yet.

  7. 1. I have not started to study for the finals yet but I will soon. I will study by looking over all the chapters and reading the introductions to the chapters. Also, I will solve some difficult problems in each lesson.

    2. This year has not been challenging. However, I could change things like paying more attention in class and turning in homework at normal due dates.

    3. For next year algebra, I think I am fine because I have already been studying algebra since last summer. However, I still need to review and learn more over the summer for next year's algebra course.

    4. I liked Mr. Jobe's algebra class very much because he taught in a funny way with jokes that all fit with the lessons. I thought that Mr.Jobe was very good at teaching and I understood everything he said.

  8. 1. I have not yet started studying for the final exams because of this test, so I will begin planning on studying. I will study the tests and the mistakes I made in the test. I plan to make a study guide that will make things simpler for me.

    2. Yes, I believe that this was much more challenging then last year in America. I think that I could have studied more and try to participate more in the class. Last year, I was the guy who worked hard on math and excel myself, but this year I was too distracted. I think that I could have focused a little more.

    3. I will not attend KIS, but I will definitely try to review the things we learned. Some skills that I learned was solving complex equations or (the lessons we are learning now) graphing intercepts, inequalities, scatter points or geometry that we learned.

4.I loved math class this year because I think that Mr. Jobe made the classes fun and exciting and his explanations are the best! I think that you give a fair about of homework and a fair amount of test and quizzes. I love the activities we do and I would love to have a same class next year!

  9. 1) Have you already started studying for the final exam? If so, what have you done? If not, what do you plan on doing to prepare yourself?

-I haven't and I am planning to review from chapter 1~11. Also, I will check the lessons or chapters that was difficult for me.

    2) Has this year been challenging for you? Do you think you performed the best you could have? What could you have done differently?

-This years wasn't challenging for me. I didn't performed the best in some chapters and I could've put in more effort to perform a better job in some chapters.

    3) The Algebra I course at KIS is challenging. Do you think you need to hone up on any skills over the summer, or do you feel confident about your mathematics ability? If so, what skills?

-I feel confident about algebra 1, especially geometry or solving equations.

    4) Did you like Pre-Algebra class this year? Why or why not? (Be honest, but be respectful.)

-It was very exciting to come to this pre-algebra class. Mr. Jobe made the class more exciting than make it the most boring class in KIS. It was a very enjoyable class.

  10. 1) I did start on studying for the finals with my friends and alone. I study by looking at the tests from before and looking at the keynotes, highlighted formulas or important words in my math book.

    2) I don't think that I had lot of challenges this year, but I don't think I did my best this year. Compared to other times, I think I was lazy and didn't do my homework as well and also played around during class time. I think I can be able to overcome that and study better next year.

    3) I would want to review the concepts by myself and also look back at the Korean math textbooks. I think these things would help me get through algebra class.

    4) Yes, I liked pre algebra this year, because Mr. Jobe was very humorous when studying that made me understand better when people just talk. I also enjoyed it because I feel like that I improved on math.

  11. 1) I haven't started studying but plan to tonight. I will look over my notes and memorize formulas. I plan to do the practice problems, go over homework answers I got wrong and study a little every night.

2)It's been a little challenging but I feel like I have learned a lot because I pay attention more and do my homework more often than I did last year.

3)I don't really think I need to but will continue to apply what I have learned this year to real life.

4)I really enjoyed math this year because Mr. Jobe is really funny, the people are really nice and I understood things better than I did last year.

  12. 1) I have started studying for the finals. I looked over my past notes, and I told my tutor that I will have a final about everything we learned through the whole year, and my tutor is currently helping me study.
    2) This year has been challenging for me because I learned a lot of new things and I didn't really get some of the chapters. But I always knew what I didn't get at the end of the day. I think I could've asked more questions if I didn't know anything.
    3) Next year will be scary for me because for me Algebra seems really tough and hard to understand. I will be preparing with my tutor and study hard at home so that I could get good grades for things I already know!
    4) Yes, I enjoyed the pre-algebra class because we had a LOT of activities such as the scavenger hunt, which was my favorite, and the one where we had to go outside and make a word problem with the two items.

    ReplyDelete
  13. 1) I haven't started studying yet, but I will look at all the test and test corrections and study the chapters that I do not really get.
    2) This year was kind of tough for me because I wasn't really ready for it at the beginning but I think I improved a lot this year. I tried my best on the classwork, homework and the test. I think the chapters later on were harder so I think I should be studying this chapter for the final exam.I think I could have kept the worksheets from long ago so I could study and I could have listened more carefully on the directions.
    3) I think I'm not quite there yet, but I am trying to catch up during the summer so that I can be in Algebra next year.
    4) I really enjoyed a lot in this class because after the tests, we played scavenger hunt and Mr. Jobe also showed us a magic trick which is still not solved, but most of all I think that it helped me a lot to catch up on the hard chapters and all the lessons and all the chapters were challenging and interesting!

Pre-Algebra is almost over! All that is left is a take-home quiz, a scavenger hunt, and a final exam! Answer the following questions:

    1) Have you already started studying for the final exam? If so, what have you done? If not, what do you plan on doing to prepare yourself?

No, I'm planning on going over all the chapters that we went over from the start of the second semester to the end of the second semester. I might have some questions and things that I have problem remembering but I'm planning on coming in or emailing Mr.Jobe about some of the stuff that I have problems going over with. So please help me Mr.Jobe!

    2) Has this year been challenging for you? Do you think you performed the best you could have? What could you have done differently?

I think that it was in the middle. I definitely had some problems getting organized but the study part was kind of like a repetition of last year's math class. Therefore I was able to understand things better because I knew the basic behind the harder or the deeper lessons we were going through this year.

    3) The Algebra I course at KIS is challenging. Do you think you need to hone up on any skills over the summer, or do you feel confident about your mathematics ability? If so, what skills?

I think that I might need to go over some things just to get the basic of Algebra built which would be the Pre- Algebra, so I think that I should go over the Pre- Algebra this summer. Not so much but at least a little bit of them.

    4) Did you like Pre-Algebra class this year? Why or why not? (Be honest, but be respectful.)

I liked it because awesome Mr.Jobe had some fun activities for us to do, there were also projects and games and different activities so I liked it!

  15. 1) Have you already started studying for the final exam? If so, what have you done? If not, what do you plan on doing to prepare yourself?I didn't start studying for the final exam. I'm going to review all the works that I did in semester 2. and I'm going to solve many problems as many as I can.

    2) Has this year been challenging for you? Do you think you performed the best you could have? What could you have done differently? This year was challenging for me. Because there were some problems that I never see. and It was very challenging for me to understand how to do it and solve those problems. I think I showed 80 percent best and I think I should have done the word group project better.
    3) The Algebra I course at KIS is challenging. Do you think you need to hone up on any skills over the summer, or do you feel confident about your mathematics ability? If so, what skills?I think I need to hone up on any skills over the summer. Because Algebra is much difficult than Pre-Algebra, and in Algebra, there are some chapter that we didn't learn in pre- algebra. So I think I need to hone up on any skills over the summer, so I could do Algebra more easily next year.

    4) Did you like Pre-Algebra class this year? Why or why not? (Be honest, but be respectful.) I like Pre-Algebra class this year. Because it was fun and interesting. Everyone was kind and nice. We did a lot of fun activity and project. And also Mr. Jobe was funny^^

  16. Have you already started studying for the final exam? If so, what have you done? If not, what do you plan on doing to prepare yourself?

I haven’t started on studying for the final exam, however, i am going to look at my notebook or textbook and find formulas i need to memorize. Also i am going review on my quizzes to make sure i don’t make any same mistakes.

    2) Has this year been challenging for you? Do you think you performed the best you could have? What could you have done differently?

This year was pretty hard for me, because i came to KIS at the start of a second semester and the math i learnt from New Zealand was quite different from American curriculum. I think i did my best job to catch up with others and if i could have done differently, i would have done some bonus works.

The Algebra l course at KIS is challenging. Do you think you need to hone up on any skills over the summer, or do you feel confident about your mathematics ability? If so, what skills?

I think i have to study for the Algebra 1 course and prepare for it over the summer break. I am also going to review Pre- Algebra over the breaks.

Did you like Pre-Algebra class this year? Why or why not? (Be honest, but be respectful.)

I liked Pre-Algebra but there were some chapter i didn’t actually liked. Parts i liked were graphing equations, volumes and areas. They were really fun however i didn’t liked the part where i had to calculate a lot because, i got worried about getting a wrong anwers.

  17. 1) I haven't been studying yet but I am planning to start reviewing the chapters and the worksheets and notes I have took over the course next week because when I study too early I forget, having to study again with more loss of time.
    2) This year hasn't been very challenging but there were some topics in math that I have forgotten how to do and thought this was good practice and review for me. I feel like I have performed the best I have since I enjoyed this math class
3)For Algebra I class next year, I am planning to have classes for Algebra I during the summer so I am ready in case I have problem understanding
    4) I really liked the Pre-Algebra class this year because the class had fun activities to do and Mr.Jobe was really funny.

  18. The final exam is coming up and I have started studying. I have been taking notes on the things that I need to be careful while taking the test. I am also planning to do look over my homework, quiz, and my tests to see the mistakes that I've made. Then I would try solving them again and would try some challenging questions from the textbook (for me word problems are mostly challenging). I will be studying very thoroughly so I would be able to get a good grade on the final exam. Some of the parts we covered throughout the year was challenging but most of them were pretty easy. Although I have tried my best all the year, I think I could have done better if I checked completely before I turned any assignments/tests/quizzes in. For the final exam, I am planning to do the problems with my best ability and care. I am very scared for the Algebra I course next year, so I am planning to study a lot this summer. There are some parts that I feel confident and some parts that I don’t. I consider myself that I am pretty good in the calculation parts but I am not so confident when it comes to thinking critically and solving the word problems. Therefore, I will work hard this summer to succeed next year in my Algebra I course. I really liked the Pre-Algebra class this year. Mr.Jobe taught the class in a very funny way. After taking this course, math became one of my favorite subjects this year. I hope having just as much fun for Algebra I next year, too.

  19. 1. Yes, I sort of did started studying for the final exam. So far I have reviewed the first few chapters (we are getting tested on) by reading the notes I took and doing some problems that are on the textbook. I also reread the key facts that are in the textbook too. After I'm done, I probably will look at all the mistakes I made in the past tests and quizzes and try to not make the same ones again.
    2. This year was quite a bit challenging for me. I think for most of the things I did, I tried my best. Something I would've done differently is to use time more effectively. Sometimes in class I think about other things, so when I get back home I have to read the textbook again to understand the concept better.
    3. I think I need to study a lot before I enter Algebra. I plan to study maths continuously so that by the end of the holiday I would've learnt a lot, little by little everyday. Some skills I want to improve on are calculating accurately, making equations for word problems, and also (maybe) a head start on Algebra.
    4. I really enjoyed Pre-Algebra class this year. Maths used to be one of my least favourite subject, but this year it was one of my favourites. I loved all the fun explanations and stories Mr. Jobe told us, and I also appreciate Mr. Jobe for creating such fun and educational games (like the scavenger hunt(s).

  20. 1)Yes, I did start studying for the final exam. I’ve been reviewing the notes, projects, and tests, and I started to solve questions in the textbook that I had trouble with.

2)This year has been challenging but also fun. I would say that there was times in the year that I think that I performed my best and also times in the year that I didn’t perform my best. I think that for all the times that I didn’t do my best, it was because of the lack of study I did and not concentrating enough because of other classes.

3)I think that I should review some of my math over the summer. I don’t think there are specific things that I should review. I think that I should just review a little of everything and learn some algebra so that I am prepared for next year.

4)Yes! I enjoyed the class because I liked all the assignments and projects. They were all really fun to do! I liked the way that Mr.Jobe taught, I could understand things easily with his explanations. It made all the classes fun! : )

Yes, I'm studying for the final exam. I am reviewing my old tests and textbook.

    2) Has this year been challenging for you? Do you think you performed the best you could have? What could you have done differently?
I was not challenging for me. I don't think I performed the best. I am not going to miss any assignments.

    3) The Algebra I course at KIS is challenging. Do you think you need to hone up on any skills over the summer, or do you feel confident about your mathematics ability? If so, what skills?
I think I need to study Algebra and review Pre-Algebra over this summer. I am going to review functions and geometry.

    4) Did you like Pre-Algebra class this year? Why or why not? (Be honest, but be respectful.)
Yes, I really liked Pre-Algebra class this year because how Mr.Jobe teach math was very fun! Also Mr.Jobe explained things very easy.

  22. 1) Have you already started studying for the final exam? If so, what have you done? If not, what do you plan on doing to prepare yourself?
Not yet, but I am planning on reviewing all the basic concepts of the things that will come out in the finals. I will also have to solve some problems in the textbook, especially problems on chapters I got bad scores in.

    2) Has this year been challenging for you? Do you think you performed the best you could have? What could you have done differently?
Some parts of the year was challenging for me, and I think I could’ve done much better. I don’t think I tried very hard in pre-algebra. What I could’ve done differently is: remember to do all my homework, and turn all of them in.

    3) The Algebra I course at KIS is challenging. Do you think you need to hone up on any skills over the summer, or do you feel confident about your mathematics ability? If so, what skills?
I think I need to improve on my calculation skills, to calculate faster and more accurately.

Did you like Pre-Algebra class this year? Why or why not? (Be honest, but be respectful.)
I like Pre-algebra, because my teacher was awesome, and I think I was able to learn better because Mr. Jobe taught in a fun way.
