Answer the following questions:
1) Do you feel confident in solving equations? What are the most difficult kinds of equations for you to solve?
2) Are you getting better at writing equations and inequalities from word problems? What is the most difficult part of solving word problems?
3) Next chapter, we will study rates, ratios, and proportions. Describe everything you already know about these topics.
1.) I am very confident in solving equations. They come very easily to me. The most difficult equations for me are the very long ones where you have to distribute. This sometimes confuses me.
ReplyDelete2.)I am confident at writing equations from world problems. However, I am not confident with inequalities. Sometimes I get confused which way the inequality sign has to point to.
3.) I know that rates are used for comparing something like speeds. Ratios are like 9:5. They compare as well. And proportions have to do with sizes and how to make something the same shape but a different scale.
1)I feel confident. I don't have anything that was hard in class. If it's something out of class. It was linear equations.
ReplyDelete2) I can see that I can write it faster than long time ago. I think it's the silly mistakes I make. Like I read -2 as 2 or something like that.
3) I know ratio is something like 6:4 or something, but I don't know rates and proportions. I might know it in Korean, but I don't know in English
1. I AM TOTALLY CONFIDENT ABOUT SOVING AN EQUATION AND I AM ALSO GETTING USE TO MAKING EQUATION USING WORD PROBLEM AND THE MOST HARDEST PART I DIDN'T KNOW WAS INEQUILITY BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW HOW TO MAKE THE GRAPH.
ReplyDelete2. YES AND THE PART I DIDN'T LIKE WAS WHEN THERE IS A MULTIPLE QUESTION THAT DOESNT GET EVEN AND I HAVE TO GO TO DECIMALS
3. UMM RATIOS I KNOW BUT RATES AND PROTIONS ARE THINGS I DON'T KNOW SO I THINK I SHOULD LISTEN CAREFULLY TO MR.JOBE
1.I feel a little confident of solving equations. The most difficult one is making an equation out of word problem
ReplyDelete2.I think I'm getting better at equations and inequality is when the problem is given but its little hard to write inequality from word problem because there is "less than","No more than",etc and those were the hardest thing to solve
3.I don't know anything about rates but I think i know ratio, I think its like this "10:5'. And I forgot about proportions. I need to work hard on these 3 topics
1) I am not very comfortable, but I think it got a lot better than before. The difficult part for me was getting to know the 6 signs for the greater than or less than...
ReplyDelete2) I think I got a lot better than before when I had to think for a long time for understanding the questions. I think the most difficult part of solving word problem is that I had to read it over and over again to understand the question.
3) We use ratios to cout he score for some of the games.
1) Yes. I fully understand equations and if I get a question wrong, I will immediately understand my mistake. I think equations was the easiest part of this chapter for me.
ReplyDelete2) I'm getting much better at writing inequalities and equations. The hardest part for me is determining which way the inequality sign should point to.
3) I can't remember much but I remember that in ratios, it has to be _____:1 (something to one) and that part is the easiest for me.
1) I feel confident enough to solve all of the questions. The most difficult one was to solve the inequality equation and with the distributive property in it.
ReplyDelete2) I got used to inequality and equations however I have difficulties on writing the inequalities and equations for word problems.
3) I am very familiar with ratios and proportions however I am not sure about the rates.
1) Yes, I feel confident in solving equations. There weren't specifically difficult questions, there were questions I easily made mistakes such as the inequality questions, where the sign changes when you divide the number by a negative number.
ReplyDelete2) Kind of. They most difficult part was when you're stuck on what kind of equation you're supposed to write on this type of question.
3) Rates are ratios except they have different measurements, ratios are the relationships between two numbers. Proportions are relationships of ratios *parts of a whole* .
1)I feel more confident after doing it in school and also outside of school, but sometimes I get messed up with the plus and minuses when moving backwards forgetting them, but except that I don't think I have a hard time in the class.
ReplyDelete2)Yes, I feel confident writing word problems but I have a problem when changing the words into the right inequality sign, I sometimes write the wrong one. except that it is easy to solve a word problem.
3) I know that ratio is something like the one with the colon in the middle such as 4:5, I saw rates before, but I don't know what it is used for also I don't know what proportions are.
1) I am very confident working with solving equations. The most difficult ones were the ones were the ones when the answer comes out as an improper fraction, and it gets me mixed up whether I did the question right or wrong.
ReplyDelete2) Yes, I am getting better at writing equations and inequalities.from word problems. The most difficult word problems were when the problem used the words no more than (a number), and no less than (a number) instead of at most (a number) and at least (a number).
3) I think I already know everything about ratios and proportions. However I don't think I know fully about rates.
1.I feel pretty confident in solving equations, but writing equations are still a bit confusing to me.
ReplyDelete2.I think I am improving in writing equations, but it is still a bit confusing sometimes. I think the hardest part of solving a word problem is the equations.
3.I used to know what ratios and proportions are, but not rates. However, the two topics I used to know are gone from my memory.

1) I do feel confident in solving equations now that I really know how to solve it. The most difficult equation I had to solve was the ones where the numbers were decimals and then you had to change them back to whole numbers. If I multiply by whatever I have to, it becomes a big number and then I have to subtract and add for a long time.
ReplyDelete2) I getting a bit improved but not a lot. If it is a word problem and you have to make a inequality equation, I sometimes don't understand the word that is says. For example no more than. I forget how the inequality sign looks like so I eventually get the problem wrong. The most difficult part when solving word problems are the words. You sometimes don't understand the concept of the problem.
3) I know how ratios and how ratios look like and some things about rates and unit rates.
1)I feel confident in solving equations. I don't have anything hard in class. The most difficult solving equation problem was the long equations. Even I know how to solve it, in the middle,it confuse me a lot, so it was easy to get lost in the long equations problem
ReplyDelete2)I think I'm getting better at writing equations and solving the word problems. At the first time when I was writing the equation, I had no idea how to write it, but now I can write the equation very easily. The difficult thing in the world problem was, to understand the problem. And also it was hard to figure out what the problem is asking me for.
3)I don't know anything about rates, ratios, and proportions. I never heard about those things. I hope I could do the next chapter well.
1. Yes, I feel confident solving all of the equations. The most difficult one was solving equations with fractions in it. I always forgot to multiply the non-fractions with the LCD, so I had to redo my problem sometimes.
ReplyDelete2. I am getting better at writing equations and inequalities from word problems. The most difficult part of solving them (for me) is figuring out the terms 'is at most' 'at least' etc. I take a while understanding them and writing an inequality with them, and sometimes I get it wrong.
3. Rate - How fast something goes in a certain amount of time. Used in the formula 'd=rt' to find out the distance.
Ratios - Written in the form of ___ : ___ or a fraction. I know how to find x if it is in a form of 15:12 = 5:x .
Proportion - I don't know.
1)I feel confident in solving equations. Equations with fractions were most difficult kinds of fractions to solve.
ReplyDelete2)Yes, I am getting better at writing equations and inequalities from word problems. The hardest part of solving word problems was setting out the equations.
3)I already know about ratios and proportions, but I didn't learn about rates.
1) I feel confident in solving equations, but sometimes I can have trouble with the equations that are really long with fractions. I know how to solve it but sometimes i get confused in the middle of solving and I don’t know what to do, or maybe I make mistakes that I can easily fix.
ReplyDelete2) I think I am getting better. Sometimes I have trouble with the inequalities when it says
‘at most’ or ‘at least’ etc I have to think to know which sign to use. The most difficult part about word problems, for me, would be understanding the questions and understanding what the given information is and understand what the questions is asking for. Sometimes I get mixed up on what kind of equation I have to write because I don’t fully understand the question.
3) I think that rate is how fast something moves and the direction.
I think ratios are used to compare 2 numbers. For example ‘ 8:9 ’
I don’t know anything about proportions.
1) I feel very confident solving equations now. I think practicing made me comfortable about solving equations. The most difficult kinds of equations for me to solve was decimals and fractions equations. It confused me because before I combined the like terms and move the terms, I had to multiply by the power of 10 or the LCD. Sometimes I found myself getting mixed up. However through practice, I improved over time.
ReplyDelete2) I think I'm getting better at writing equations and inequalities from word problems. The most difficult part in solving word problem for me is understanding the problem and deciding which inequality signs to use.
3) I know that rate is related to time and distance and that it is very useful when it comes to figuring out a how much time it takes to go a certain distance. Ratio is written in this formula: x:y. It can also be transferred into percents, fractions, or decimals. I don't know much about proportions.
Equations, Word Problems, and Chapter 7
ReplyDelete1) I feel pretty confident about working with equations, but the only equations that I have problems with are the ones that have negative numbers in the equation.
2) I think that I'm getting better at writing equations for a word problem, and the reason for that is because I read the word problem and I try to understand them which after understanding the question word by word I can write the correct equation. When there are word problems that have confusing number orders or if they have numbers that aren't needed but they put them on to trick the readers/solvers that's when I get confused or have difficulties solving the problem.
3) I know that the rate has something to do with time and speed. Ratios are two numbers compared, and they use the : to show the comparison between two numbers. I'm not sure about proportions.
1) I feel very confident in my work with equations. I think that I have made a big improvement in myself. The hardest equations for me are the inequalities and the equations with a fraction or a decimal (which comes out as a huge number). The problem with the inequalities is that I still don't fully understand when to switch the sign.
ReplyDelete2) I am getting better at writing equations, but I have a big problem with writing inequalities. I get too confused which way I should put the sign. The hardest part for me in a word problem is understanding the text and fully following directions. In most word problem I miss out a lot of information and I don't do all the instructions.
3) I am not fully sure about these topics.I hope to understand these topics
